PRESS RELEASE: Kasama Said “No” to Protecting Women’s Sports — Until It Was Election Time

Kasama outed as the only Republican Assemblywoman who refused to sponsor or co-sponsor legislation protecting women’s sports — now pretends she cares as she runs for higher office.

(LAS VEGAS, NV) — Heidi Kasama said “no” to protecting women’s sports when it mattered. Now, as she campaigns for higher office and her floundering campaign needs political support, she’s pretending she cares.

Her legislative record tells the real story.

During the 2025 Nevada Legislative Session, there were 15 Republican members of the Assembly. Thirteen Republican Assembly members sponsored or co-sponsored Assembly Bill 240 (AB240), legislation designed to codify fairness and safety in women’s sports into law.

Heidi Kasama was the only Republican Assemblywoman who refused.

Kasama did not serve as a primary sponsor. More tellingly, she never even co-sponsored AB240 at all, making her the sole Republican Assemblywoman to completely avoid the bill.

AB240 would have required athletic teams in K-12 schools and institutions of higher education to be designated by biological sex, prohibited biological males from competing on female-designated teams, and protected competitive fairness and opportunities for girls and women.

While nearly every Republican colleague was willing to take a public stand, Kasama chose not to, because at the time, it wasn’t politically useful to her.

Now, with a ballot initiative that carries no legislative risk and maximum political upside, Kasama is eager to recast herself as a champion of women’s sports. Voters deserve to know that when she had real power and a real vote, she chose herself over the people she represents.

“This is who Heidi Kasama is,” said Albert Mack. “When she had the chance to stand up for women’s sports, she chose not to. And when it suddenly became politically convenient, she changed her tune. Repeatedly, she’s proven that her decisions are guided by what advances her career, not by what’s best for Nevada families.”

“When the chips are down, and Nevadans need her to hold the line, she either fails or flees to Cabo.”

Nevadans deserve leaders guided by conviction, not career politicians who reinvent themselves when begging for votes.
